O sonho de famílias de baixa renda de Olinda começa a virar realidade nesta terça-feira (2), quando foram entregues 128 casas às comunidades V8 e V9, resultado de parceria entre Governo Federal e Prefeitura Municipal de Olinda. O presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva,, o governador do Estado de Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos, e a prefeita de Olinda, Luciana Santos, fizeram a entrega simbólica na manhã de hoje (2) na região conhecida como Canal da Malária.

Projeto - O PAC Urbanização de Favelas e Saneamento contempla projeto de urbanização da última etapa do Canal da Malária, que inclui o restante do revestimento do canal e a construção de 480 unidades habitacionais nas comunidades do Jardim Brasil e Vila Popular.

Além disso, a comunidade passará a ter uma nova estação elevatória e 10 novas ruas. Até setembro de 2010, previsão de término das obras, que já foram iniciadas, a população receberá ainda um parque construído em uma área de 7,5 hectares de mangue com duas quadras, um campo de futebol, uma pista de cooper, ciclovia, calçadão para pedestres e uma arena para apresentações culturais.

Promessa cumprida. Maria das Dores da Silva recebeu, nesta terça-feira (2), das mãos do presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, as chaves de sua nova casa em Olinda, na região conhecida como Canal da Malária. “Quando conheci Dona Maria das Dores, a casa dela estava em cima de tijolos para evitar alagamentos”, afirmou o presidente Lula, que lembrou a importância da parceria entre a Prefeitura de Olinda e o governo estadual, que deu a contrapartida e assegurou a realização do projeto.

 The dream of low-income families in Olinda begins to become reality on Tuesday (2), when 128 houses were delivered to the V8 and V9 communities, the result of a partnership between the Federal Government and the Municipality of Olinda. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the governor of the State of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos, and the mayor of Olinda, Luciana Santos, made the symbolic delivery this morning (2) in the region known as the Malaria Channel.

 Project - The PAC Urbanização de Favelas e Saneamento (PAC Urbanization of Favelas and Sanitation) contemplates an urbanization project for the last stage of the Malaria Canal, which includes the remainder of the canal lining and the construction of 480 housing units in the communities of Jardim Brasil and Vila Popular.
